The development of sustainable energy storage methods is an essential part of the technological solutions needed to address climate change. In this context, batteries—and more specifically, lithium-ion batteries—are indispensable technologies. This collaborative project between Jérôme Claverie of the University of Sherbrooke and Dr. Karim Zaghib of Hydro-Québec aims to develop innovative lithium-ion battery systems based on new polymers as battery materials. A master’s student will develop polymer formulations for use as organic cathodes, while a doctoral student, with the support of a postdoctoral researcher, will develop polymer electrolytes suitable for operation at room temperature and below. The development of these materials is driven by the need for next-generation battery materials that combine enhanced performance with improved sustainability.
