Chemical Modification of Residual Forest Lignin for Polyurethane (PUR) Production

PROJECT DETAILS:

The research activities will focus on valorizing lignin by chemically modifying it to improve its properties and enable its more effective incorporation into polyurethane products. Another research area will involve the development of a kilo-lab scale process to produce sufficient quantities of modified lignin for pilot-scale polyurethane manufacturing trials. In addition, this work will help define a preliminary design for a future lignin-based product manufacturing facility.
