SAF+ Consortium was founded by CCG together with 3 other main partners: AirTransat, Montreal Trudeau Airport, and CO2 Solutions (carbon capture technology supplier). It brings together a coalition of associated stakeholders spanning the entire value chain. Leveraging highly innovative carbon capture and conversion technologies, SAF+ Consortium aims to develop a commercial power-to-liquids technological platform capable of turning industrial carbon emissions into clean fuel. The SAF+ Consortium Inc. company was set up to pursue the R&D and project development activities that would lead to the building of a first commercial SAF+ plant by 2025.
In 2019, the SAF+ project has been selected as one of the finalists in the federal government Sky is the Limit Challenge and has received 2M$ funding (in addition to private partners contributions) to design, build and operate a pilot plant that will demonstrate the process. The pilot plant is currently in engineering phase and is expected to be delivered in Q4-2020.
