CALL FOR QUANTUM TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PROJECTS

COLLABORATIVE INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH AND SUPPORT FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie (MEIE) invites all Quebec SMEs who seek to develop and commercialize quantum technologies through innovation projects to submit a financial assistance application for quantum technology innovation projects. PRIMA Québec, in collaboration with Prompt, will be implementing components 3 and 4 of the call for projects.

The proposal aims to support innovation in quantum technologies resulting from research and development in the following areas:

  • quantum computing
  • quantum communication
  • quantum materials
  • quantum metrology and detection

The proposed projects must contribute to the development and commercialization of:

  • quantum computer and quantum communication components;
  • quantum technologies which fall within the following fields of application (non-exclusive):
    • life sciences
    • sustainable development
    • transport and logistics

Letter of intent: April 26, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.

Submitting projects: May 30, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.

Component 3: Innovation projects in partnership with a public research centre

  1. SME component (an SME is a company with less than 250 employees) :
    • minimum 1 SME, one with a presence in Québec (R&D or production);
    • a large company and/or a company outside Québec can participate in the project as a 2nd industrial partner;
    • 40 % Max PRIMA contribution  (Max 1M$), 80% Max cumulative public contribution;
    • 20 % Max global cost of the R&D project contribution from the industrial partner (if the SME is in partnership with one or more large companies, the Québec SME must provide at least 20% of the minimum private contribution required. If several SMEs with a large company, the total contribution of Québec SMEs must represent at least 20% of the minimum private contribution required);
    • management fees :  5% (of the global cost of the R&D project) divided between MEIE and the industrialists according to their contributions to the project.
  1. Large company component :
    • minimum 1  large company with a presence in Québec (R&D or production);
    • a company outside Québec can participate in the project as a 2nd industrial partner;
    • 20 % Max PRIMA contribution  (Max 1M$), 60% Max cumulative public contribution;
    • 40 % Min global cost of the R&D project contribution from the industrial partner, 50% of the contribution can be in kind;
    • management fees :  2.5% (of the global cost of the R&D project) divided between MEIE and the industrialists according to their contributions to the project.

Component 4: Collaborative innovation projects of two or more companies (including at least one SME or startup)

  • at least 2 companies (including at least one SME or a startup)
  • minimum 25% of total R&D project costs contributed by industrial partners
  • 50 % Max PRIMA contribution (Max 1M$), 75 % Max cumulative public contribution
  • Management fees : 5 % (of the global cost of the R&D project)
